LASIK corrects
your vision by reshaping the cornea (outer window of the eye)
so that light rays are focused more precisely on the retina,
reducing or eliminating the need for glasses and contact lenses.
Typically you are back to normal activities; such as driving
a car and going to work the very next day.

Complete LASIK Vision Correction Description
LASIK
is the acronym for Laser in-situ Keratomileusis, meaning,
"to shape the cornea within using a laser." In LASIK,
Dr. Siepser creates a very thin cap of your cornea, then uses
the laser in the bed of your cornea to gently reshape
your eye, and then replaces the cap, which acts as a living
contact lens.
LASIKeye surgery is very quick
and painless. It takes about 15 minutes to complete both eyes
and you will be awake during the procedure. If you would like
we can give you some mild sedation to ensure you are comfortable
during your laser surgery procedure.
1. Your laser surgeon will numb your
eye with eye drops, an eyelid holder will hold your eye so
you will not have the sensation of wanting to blink nor can
you blink.
2. The LASIK surgeon will place a small
suction ring on your cornea to stabilize your eye while he
or she uses the microkeratome to create the corneal cap.
3. The microkeratome will go across your cornea,
creating a protective cap that the laser surgeon will
fold back, exposing the bed of your cornea for the laser treatment.
4. Your LASIK surgeon will ask you to look at a red
blinking ‘fixation light’ while the Excimer laser
reshapes the corneal tissue. You will hear a clicking sound
as the laser vaporizes microscopic layers of your cornea.
This process is very quick and you won't feel a thing.
5. The LASIK surgeon will then place
the corneal cap back in its original position and it will
be allowed to dry for a few minutes.
